Inviting Foreign Family

Yemisaliz, on April 24, 2016 at 8:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Hi y'all. I need some advice on sending out invitations to my family and friends that live abroad. My fiancé has a security clearance and every time he makes contact with someone who is not a US citizen, his job requires him to fill out paperwork giving their birthdate, place of birth and other information. Is it tacky to include a short form with the invitation asking them to fill out that information? Any advice would be very helpful.

Is he inviting a lot of people from overseas? It would be a little weird but if they know him and his job it should be ok. Has he not contacted them before this and had to give their information?

What if you just put your name for the return address for the invites that have to go overseas?

I would collect that information separately. I know how important it is to have it, but I think it would be weird to send a form for the invite. Besides, it seems like this info might be helpful to have in the future if he has to submit the form every single time he makes contact.

If it's your family, do you already have that information? If not, would your parents or aunts know that information? Can you call anyone and get all that information ahead of time?

If not, can you just put only your name on the envelope as the return address or is this a non kosher loophole?
