Invites

Jasmin, on September 6, 2019 at 4:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hello everyone! Quick question, my wedding is on Feb. 8, 2020. I’m not sending save the dates but when would it be a good time to start sending wedding invites?

    6-8 weeks before the wedding.

Would that time span give the visitors from out of town enough time to prepare? Most of my family are from out of town.

That's what save the dates are meant for, to give guests enough notice to make arrangements. I would do them at least for out of town guests.

I plan on sending mine out close to 8-12 weeks before the wedding. We don't have a whole lot of people from out of town, but I want to have the final count a month before the wedding. Plus there are always RSVP's you have to hunt down. If you're having out of town guests, I think anywhere from 8-12 weeks would be good!

The previous poster was right with 6-8 weeks ahead of time. We are sending ours out earlier since we're doing a destination wedding. Our wedding is the week before yours, so we also kept in mind the holidays to try and avoid the invites/rsvps getting lost in the hustle and bustle.

With the Christmas holiday they may get lost in the shuffle of Christmas cards and put to the side and forgotten. I'd say either just after Thanksgiving, or a day or two after Christmas so they aren't lost in the holiday chaos

Totally agree. Save the dates if not for everyone than at least the out of towners.

We are having a destination wedding and need our numbers a month in advance, so we are sending our invites out in October for our February 1st wedding. With the holidays wrapped up in the time and needing the numbers around New Years I wanted to hopefully avoid the holiday card craziness and give myself plenty of time to track people down.

I've always heard (and practiced this) that if it's an out of town wedding for a majority, sending invites 10-12 weeks is fine. Save the dates weren't always a thing. We sent save the dates but also sent our invites about 14 weeks before the wedding. We had an early deadline with the bakery and people were starting to ask for more info around that time.
Plus it might help you have better success with avoiding holiday mail rush.

Our wedding is Feb 22, 2020 and we will be sending out invites the 2nd week of Oct with a RSVP date the 2nd week in December. This helps are out of town guests that decide enough time to plan and also after the RSVP date, it gives us enough time to invite anyone off our B list Smiley smile

The first week of December with an RSVP date of 1/15/20.

This allows a 2 weeks for stragglers so that you will have a final head count the week before your event.

My RSVP date was 8/23, Wedding is 9/21, 2 RSVPs received this week. One had already confirmed by text and the other wouldn’t miss it.

People in the Wedding Party have still not RSVP’d, but we know that they’re going to be there.
