Invites - Where to Start

Kari, on December 29, 2019 at 5:17 PM Posted in Planning 1 8

We did emailed STDs that I designed myself but want to send paper invites by mail. Guests will RSVP on our website, so we want to include our website URL on our invitation, even though people don't typically do so, as we won't have separate RSVP cards. We just want a simple, elegant invite that is nicely printed on a good quality paper.

We have 80 guests, most of which are paired off, so we need 42 invitations to cover everyone. We would probably order a few extras with blank envelopes for keepsakes, photos, and backup invites, so like 50-55 invites total. Does that sound right?

Any recommendations about where to order them from? We are hoping to keep the cost for invites under $200, including postage.

I know of Minted, but have never used them. Any other sites you really liked or didn't like?

Also any information you think should definitely be included or left off the invite? Most things people need to know are on our website. We will make sure our website URL ends up on the invitation.

We got ours on Vistaprint. We got 100 invites, RSVP cards, pre-addressed RSVP envelopes, and details cards for under $200 during their Black Friday sale. They normally have coupons or sales going on that can help with costs. We did the basic paper, nothing fancy, but they turned out very nicely, in my opinion.Invites - Where to Start 1

We got ours from American Weddings, but they were over $200, but we also had reply cards, invitations, and hotel accommodation cards. We also paid to have them address the envelopes because my husband and I both have terrible hand writing. I used VistaPrint for our save the dates. I got them on sale. I ordered envelopes for them from Basic Invite because I wanted envelopes with the address printed on them. All three sites were really easy to use.

Shutterfly is great! If you wait for a 50% off sale too it’s not expensive

I got an invite with a RSVP postcard included with addressed envelopes from Ann’s Bridal Bargains. 75 for $75. I included our wedding website on the invite and indicated the option to rSVP online on the website instead of returning the RSVP card. Because of that we didn’t include a stamp on the RSVP in order to save some $$.

I used Basic Invite. All the designs I messed with were super customizable. If I didn't want a detail, I could clear out all the text for that section and it was gone. Or add boxes for things I wanted but the design didn't have (like URL). As someone else mentioned, they also did pre-addressed envelopes for no extra cost which was a huge plus. If you can get to it before the end of December they have a 15% off code on the site too.

Magnetstreet.com - my STD were beautiful and will be ordering invitations - you can request samples.

Shutterfly.com - you can request samples

Samsclub even does invitations suites if you like their options!

I would also start looking now and watch for sales - before Christmas I got my STD for 50% off - actual deal I had watched for a few months.

    We used Zazzle.
We spent like $100 on 110 invitations.
And $25 for reception inserts. (They are business cards.)While I am happy with the quality, it took 2 weeks to get them after they shipped them, and they were pretty non-challant about it. So I didnt like that.
