Invites: Physical rsvp card? or wedding website link?

Holly, on July 18, 2018 at 7:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I just went to a wedding where the invite had a link to their website to rsvp and look at their registry. I thought it was really easy and a good idea, but I also see tons of people have pics of their invites which include a bunch of different pieces.. and that looks nice too. I was thinking for older guests they may like the traditional mail-in RSVP better, but I don't think the link is too " techy" even for my grandparents and other elderly relatives.. idk what do you guys think of each way??

We are doing RSVPs only thru our wedding website. We put them in the mail Monday so I will let you know how it turns out! But everyone who we’ve told hasn’t had an issue with it. The reason we are doing it is to save money and also we are having people rsvp for our welcome party, picking a meal choice, and letting us know where they’re staying so we can figure out shuttles. So it just seemed easier to do it all online.

I was going to do online only but I see a lot of people here mention that they had issues...
So I just went with the regular snail mail kind! ☺

I did online only. I have 6 older guests who dont have computers so I asked them over the phone and RSVPd for them. Still super worth it!
Website has all the details, hotel suggestions, about us/pictures, registry links, and RSVP. And they can only RSVP for who I put was invited, so no unwanted extras

I’m doing online only, but also put my phone number on the invitation in case older guests can’t figure it out.

I’m doing online only. I mailed them last Monday and I already have 38 rsvps so people are definitely using it. I included a QR code on our details card (with instructions) so when people scan it it takes them right to our page. I think people are interested to see how the code works so it’s a good way to get them to the page... it just saved so much money I couldn’t justify sending rsvp cards...

I did only online and included two inserts (made myself) with pretty much exactly what to do! It was just so it was super obvious you had to use the website and it’s working well! Even the older people are getting it with no issues Smiley smile

We’re doing online RSVPs to save paper, save money on rsvp cards and postage, avoid having them potentially get lost in the mail, and avoid confusion over who is invited (I see way too many things about guests writing in extra names on RSVP cards).

We’ll also be listing an email address in addition to the online RSVP, in case people have trouble with the online RSVP. I’m pretty sure most older guests know how to use email. If not, I’m sure they’ll call!

I’m doing both. I think it depends on your crowd & mine will be mixed. A lot of my close friends will be more likely to rsvp online, but I have quite a few relatives (especially the older ones) who I know are going to send it back the traditional way...including the website link along w/ the registry info on the details card.

We sent traditional rsvp cards to our older guests who we thought might be more comfortable with that method of rsvp, however everyone except our two grandmothers (who don’t have email) have accessed our website, even FH’s 82 yo great uncle.

I did online RSVP (with an email / phone number for the technologically challenged). 225 people were invited, quite a few in their 70s and all but about 3 RSVP'd online. By the RSVP due date, 85% had responded which I think is a reasonably high number based on what i read here. Overall, it worked great for us. It was super easy to collect the guest names, meal choices, dietary issues, etc..

We are doing it all online to save money. The only thing we sent out were the Save The Dates cards. For the older folks we plan on calling them and selecting food choice for them. I think it’s the easiest and most budget friendly.

Oh neat! If you don’t mind me asking what wedding website did you use? Cause we’re doing the same concept!

I’m also planning on having guests rsvp on the website. However guests that want to will still have the option of mailing their rsvp in, they will just have to pay for return postage. It’s a big money saver.

We’re using theknot. I just google searched Free QR generator to get the QR code and then added it to our details card...mine is just the regular black and white square but you can get them heart shaped or other designs. Ppl have been loving it. You can either hover your iPhone camera and it pops up or take a picture with Snapchat and it pops up.

We did both! Rather than putting the stamp right on the response card itself, we cut them out individually and put them inside the response envelopes. We've gotten a pretty good mix of both!
