Invites, double envelopes?

Ashley, on April 11, 2017 at 10:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I'm clueless with a lot of the wedding stuff but definitely with invitations. My FH and I ordered our invitations, they came in the mail on Monday and look great! I've just come to learn that most invitations do a inner and outer envelope. I only ordered a main envelope(outer) and an rsvp envelope. I looked through some things online and it doesn't seem like a big deal at all.. just was wondering some people's thoughts... I don't think my cousin did double envelopes now that I think about it, but I didn't even notice or think of it until now which makes me think, I don't really think it matters.

    We skipped the double envelope.

It's fine to do single envelopes - especially if you didn't order super fancy invitations. The inner envelopes are for more formal styles and to protect expensive printing methods, like raised ink or foil. No worries!

Ours only has a main envelope and an RSVP envelope, with beautiful envelope liners. I'm not concerned about it.

We had an inner envelope. Inside it had the invitation mounted and a pocket for the RSVP card and return envelope.

As long as everything fits together the way you want it, do what you want.

If your outer envelope has a liner I wouldn't do a inner envelope.

    I'm doing both because

    1) on the inner envelope I listed who was invited helped me to show people No Kids.

    2) just having the outer envelope didn't seem like enough it feels thin...

The Problem: it helps to add weight to the invite and therefore will cost more! My invites cost 70 cents to send.
