FH and I plan to have around 150 people at our wedding, but our venue minimum req is 125. We’re inviting exactly 150. Should we expand the guest list and over invite to be able to still meet the minimum if people decline or not? I’m worried if I over invite and people actually accept then I have this larger wedding than I’d like. Opinions?

If you don’t meet your minimum, can you splurge on other upgrades? Usually you can just spend more on appetizers or an upgraded bar and the venue is happy.

My venue holds 200 and I ordered food for 200.

I will not have that many people.

I want people to be able to enjoy themselves and part of that is being comfortable.

I wouldn't over-invite, and I'd also definitely talk to your venue and see if you can upgrade other aspects of the wedding to cover costs. If that's not a possibility, I'd still keep to your current guest list. I know it's kind of tacky, but having a backup guest list might be a good idea just in case you have a bunch of people who can't make it.

Usually it’s a monetary minimum rather than guest minimum. I agree with previous posters and would ask your venue about upgrading food or bar if the guest list ends up being less.

This. Ours is a food and beverage minimum not a guest minimum. I won’t invite random people who could cause chaos or trouble just because the venue says so.

Ours was by table and so we could invite 260 guests but we ended up with just 250 and spread everyone out instead of filling all tables up to ten people
