6-8 weeks before the wedding is standard.

They are mailed or handed out 6-8 weeks before the wedding. If you do it earlier, people forget about it. If you do it later, people see it as a spur of the moment thing.

It's helpful but not required to send save the dates 6-12 months prior so guests can schedule time off and make travel arrangements.

We sent ours 9 weeks before the wedding. Since the post office is currently seeing delays and my invites were non machined, I wanted to give them some extra time. I’m glad I did because it took almost a week for some of our guest to receive their invites.

I was planning to send mine out 2 months before, but I haven’t even ordered mine yet (71 days to go) because I’m waiting on my venue to make a decision.

We’re getting married on Dec 5, and I’m planning to send invites out in the next 4-5 weeks. We want to give people time to book their hotels, etc and we are asking for RSVPs to be returned by end of October. Gives us plenty of time to chase people down for an answer & time to figure out last minute details with covid & social distancing, etc

We sent ours out around 3 months ahead of time for our original date (before we postponed). We're doing a semi-destination wedding in our state, so all of our guests have to travel at least 2 hours (many of them traveling a lot further than that). Our hotel room block had a deadline to book rooms by 6 weeks before our date, so we wanted to give people time to make reservations/travel plans. I personally prefer to send them out earlier rather than later.

Next month is probably a *smidge* early, even for a holiday wedding.

    Maybe more like October.
