Invite help: writing out times

Julie, on November 10, 2017 at 9:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

So I've been avoiding writing out 5:30 PM because I'm seeing so much back and forth on how to do so.

Afternoon or evening? Half after or half past? Should I just keep it the way it is? Advice needed!

You dont have to specify afternoon bc it's the only reasonable option. you should write out: "half past five o'clock"

IMO, I think it sounds more elegant when the timing is written out. I consider it to be evening but I truthfully dont know and now Im second guessing it. Following!

Technically evening begins at six. So written out it would be half past five o'clock in the afternoon on

ETA: Ah, hit enter too soon! It should be on your date, with the date written out as well. So for you on the twenty-eighth of April, two thousand and eighteen.

We put evening on ours for our 5pm ceremony because it'll be pitch black outside and it felt weird to say it was still afternoon. Honestly, I think evening sounds more elegant.

Actually "and" is not grammatically incorrect. Both are correct. It's a matter of preference. When I first started working at my company many years ago, I would see all the invitation books and every single one had the word "and" in the year. I was informed that is the more formal way of writing it. It's like "honor" and "honour".

@FMG is correct. Both are correct. I always thought it was an American vs the rest of the world way. Same with how most of the world writes dates day/month/year and add an extraneous “u” to words.

Noon to 18:00 (6:00pm) is afternoon.

Thanks all- I went with the afternoon because I guess that's more accurate. Also- this is just an insert card, that's why I don't have my date on here! haha. My invite obviously does and it is written out.

    Appreciate the feedback!
