Invite clarification

I was looking at how to address when the wife is a doctor and the husband is not. One website I found said husband comes first and then wife still. But shouldn’t it be the other way around since she’s the doctor? Just want to make sure before I start sending things out.

Yes the higher title goes first so it’s Dr. Jane and Mr. John Smith or Dr. And Mr. Smith

I would say "Dr. and Mr. Smith" because it sounds better.

When addressing a wedding invitation to a doctor, proper etiquette dictates that the spouse with the professional title is listed first. If the woman is a doctor and her husband is not, write: Doctor Lucy Wallford and Mr. Christopher Wallford or—if they have different last names—Doctor Lucy Jones and Mr. Christopher Wallford

Glad I’m not the only one who thought that was wrong. Now next question, she’s a doctor and he’s still in residency. How do we think that one goes? Lol

I’m a PharmD and have a lot of Drs coming to my wedding. The proper way is the person with the title comes first. So Dr. Jane Smith and Mr. John smith is correct for a married couple.

If he's in residency, he's graduated med school, right? That means he's a doctor too. So, Drs. John and Jane Doe.

Dr. & Mr. ___________, but if they're both doctors, it's Drs. John and Jane Smith. Residents get to use the Dr. title. I have an aunt & uncle who are both doctors and that's how I addressed their invite.

The higher title always goes first, regardless of the sex of the person to whom it belongs.
