Invite and welcome dinner

bb2017, on November 14, 2016 at 1:17 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Just wanted to make sure that the idea we have is a good one. We plan to add a weekend itinerary to the back of our invite. We are having a destinations wedding and my fmil wants to have a welcome dinner the night before the wedding. Is it OK to add that to the itinerary or should we send out an invite just for the welcome dinner?

I think it's a good idea. Go for it!

With a DW, I would think a separate card (enclosure maybe depending on your invite style) would work. Or your FMIL could send something out to those who RSVP that they will attend the wedding to invite them to the dinner. Either way will work - I am not a huge fan of anything on the back side of the main invite, as it is easily overlooked...

We are putting an inclosure with the invite for our welcome bonfire. But what about the rehearsal dinner? Would that be the same dinner?

I added an enclosure with the hotel block info. We just decided like yesterday to host a drop in gathering the night before for those that are coming in Friday. Just something simple at a Mexican restaurant in the hotel. I'm going to email people.

Yes our rehearsal dinner is the welcome dinner since only about 40 people are invited. That was my worry, what if people don't flip it over to read the back. I was trying to save money/paper by using the back.

We are having a welcome dinner for our DW wedding, also. I didn't send out an additional invitation. I had our wedding website on the back saying to go there for more details. We only have 18 people coming but sent out 35 invitations.

What an awesome idea for a welcome bonfire dinner? I never thought of that. Since it is a destination wedding you could add it to your link for the hotel an itinerary.

We are doing a "stacked" insert in our invite pocket. Only our OOT guests would be invited to the welcome dinner which would be separate from the Rehearsal Dinner. So they'll get the insert. Locals won't. But RD invites will be sent separately

I am not making a website so that is off the list of possibilities. It's $66 more for an insert which would look nicer, the invites I am looking at are flat cards so would I layer them? invite on top then itinerary then rsvp??

with the insert the total for my invites is going to be about $359... without the insert the price is more like 293. I have a paper budget of $555 but I am hoping to diy table numbers to save money in this category so I can put it toward something else.

Also who has used minted for their invites, anything I should be aware of?

Who knew paper would make so many questions arise!
