Invitations should go out 6-8 weeks before your wedding. Save the dates aren’t a necessity, but there are pros and cons either way. If you’re having a destination wedding or a weekday wedding, I would send them.

I agree with the 6-8 weeks. We had a small wedding with a shorter engagement (8 month). We told family when the date was once we set it and sent save the dates out. You don’t have to do save the dates but you might be able to get good prices with Black Friday coming up

I’m getting married 8.1.20. I originally wasn’t going to send out save the dates but because our wedding is towards the end of summer I knew a lot of people would be planning trips/vacations or make plans before kids go back to school. I’m sending out my save the dates this week with the wedding 9 months away. I’m also planning on sending my invitations out sometime in April requesting people rsvp by July 3rd. For some reason I feel that 3 months ish prior to the wedding is an ample enough time for my guests to respond knowing it gets busy in the summer. With our wedding in the beginning of August, I felt that everything needed to be set in Early July to minimize stress.

I’m getting married on 8/9/2020 and i am planning on doing save the dates as a reminder that the wedding is coming in August then I will send out my invitation. It is your preference whether or not you want to do save the date.

I'm getting married 10/10/20 and am ordering my STD'S this week. I'll mail them out when they come in. The town we're getting married in has very limited hotel space on our date so we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to get accommodations.

I know this is kind of old but I'm getting married 8-8-20 too, so I still wanted to respond!

We sent out save the dates (Shutterfly magnets) a couple of weeks ago and we'll probably send out our invitations at the beginning of June.
