Invitations

Kirsten, on May 18, 2019 at 7:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi there! Has anyone on here decided to NOT do formal wedding invitations and just send people to your wedding website to RSVP? I'm contemplating doing that, because I hate the idea of all the wasted paper and money!

Thanks!

I think the answer would be based on the formality of your event and a "know your crowd" kind of thing. If you are having a casual wedding, then you can probably get away with doing it. If you are having a more formal wedding, the invitations would be more expected.

Thanks Hannah! I'm going to actually do a little of both, I've decided. :-)

I wish I did this from the beginning! I added on an option to RSVP online after the respond by date passed and they were not sending back the cards. I was able to tailor it and ask questions and people answered them online more than on the card!

I'm sending out invitations, but they're not very formal. Then I'm having them RSVP online. I feel like that will work better for our crowd.

We considered doing this, but then my FMIL made the point that there's a lot of older folks on our guest list (grandparents, great aunts, etc), and I know a few that don't have a computer. So we went the traditional route. But I agree, it's so much added paper and money! Plus, having people RSVP on your website makes sure that everyone actually sees your website. A previous poster said this too - I think it's a "know your crowd" kinda thing. If you think everyone would be able to RSVP online then I say go for it! You could also give a phone number that people could RSVP to.

We are considering this. for the fear of those that don't have internet/a computer we're having the option to either rsvp online or call the bride with your rsvp.
