Invitations - What does your send out timing look like?

Kat_, on June 21, 2019 at 8:38 AM Posted in Planning 1 16
We have our invitations, yay! And we are about 13 weeks from our wedding on October 6th. Our planner suggested we send them out this weekend although on Emily Post I’ve read 8-10 weeks before the wedding. About 40% of our guests are out of town and don’t have access to our wedding website yet (which includes room block info, flight info, transportation options, etc) as our website info is on our invitation. We were leaning towards an early send out... but now I’m unsure.

When did you guys send, or when do you plan on sending, your invitations? Should we hold off a couple weeks so they don’t arrive too early? My Mom thinks we should hold off and it’s way too early. I’d love to hear from you on what you did/plan to do!

If you have that many out of town guests I would send them 12 weeks in advance

Since you have a large amount of OOT guest I would say sending them out earlier probably wouldn’t hurt. I’m getting married September 14th invitations will be sent out the first week of July.

I sent mine out 12 weeks before with a RSVP date 4 weeks before. Our final numbers are due 2 weeks before so that gives us a little time to contact guests.

I have a good amount of out of town guests, as well as some out of country guests. Because of that, I'll be sending my invitations out the end of August for our November 9th wedding. Our RSVP date is September 30th. I just received my invitations in the mail yesterday (:

Hey Kat! Congratulations on getting your invitationsSmiley laugh

If your wedding is in your home town and guests are not required to travel a long distance, around 8 weeks is a sufficient amount of time.

But as Gen mentioned, if you have a lot of out of town guests, 12 weeks would allow them to make the relevant travel arrangements!

I sent mine at the end of May for my August 31st wedding. We did send save the dates, but they didn't have our wedding website info and all our guests are from out of town.

I already sent out ours. It was on the 12 week mark. We have out of town guests, even a few out of the country ones so I want to make sure they have enough time to spare.

Our wedding is October 13th. Literally all of our guests are coming from out of town. I’ll be mailing invitations out July 1st.

We sent save the dates out 10 months ahead, invites out 3 months ahead. We had a ton of out of state guests!

My wedding is Sept 28 and I'm planning sending invites out on July 8th. I think this is 11 weeks before the wedding and our RSVP Date is August 31st.

Awesome, this is all so helpful! Thank you all for responding. It’s so helpful to see what the average is these days with consideration to many out of town guests.

Congrats to everyone in this thread too! It’s so exciting that we are all getting married!! 😍

One more quick question... we didn’t put an RSVP deadline... I figured we’d call around a month or so before the wedding and wrangle up the procrastinators. Should we have included an RSVP date or is that a good plan? 🤞

You are off to a great start and ahead of the curve. We had our menu tasting two weeks ago and were just able to order invitations/rsvp last week. Got them over the weekend and spent three hours assembling. They will be sent out this week with a reply date of August 7 for our September 14 wedding. The timing is tight but everyone knows about our wedding thanks to my FH insisting we send Save the Dates.

We forgot to put a RSVP date on ours too. It's on our website but now I feel like people don't know by which date they need to go to the website to RSVP. Whoops. How did your no RSVP invites turn out?
