Invitations too early?

Jessie, on March 20, 2018 at 8:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18
Our wedding is June 16th. We sent out invites this week and some have begun to get them. My MIL called and asked why we sent them so early. We didn’t do STDs. And most of the people are close friends and family that we regularly chat with so I’m not worried about people “forgetting”. I read that if you skipped STDs, to send out invites 3 months ahead of time. Was it too early? Should I remind people closer to the date?

    Hello!
First let me say congrats! You are getting married on my birthday yay!!! I dont think it is too early. Most venues require an updated guest count well in advance and also 3 weeks ahead. You need to be able to plan accordingly.

    Best!

At this point it doesn’t matter if it’s too early since you already sent them. Rule of thumb is 6-8 weeks. I wouldn’t worry much. When is your rsvp date? You may end up having to call a lot of people who forget to respond due to them being sent so early.

Well either way it's too late to do anything about it now so I honestly just wouldn't stress about it!Smiley smile That can be a busy time of year for people with graduations, etc so I think your guests will appreciate the time to plan. Also, I think most people, regardless of when they send out invites, end up needing to track a few people down who haven't rsvp'd. I would wait until you get to a week before you need to give venue/caterer a final headcount to call around and confirm with anyone you haven't gotten a response from.

My wedding is june 29th and we did STD. Alot of our people are out of town. And plan to send ours out in the next few weeks. I think since you haven't done the STDs your not too early at all! Smiley smile Just wait for people to rsvp by the date you placed and if you don't hear back from everyone, then contact those who haven't responded. Hopefully you'll get a final number of people a week before your day.

I am getting married May 17 and sent invites for that at the beginning of March. It was destination and I didn’t send STDs. AND, I’m having a dinner for extended family back in my hometown on your wedding day! I have not yet sent invites, but my cousin was harassing me to let her know the time so I think people will appreciate the notice!

You're a little ahead of schedule but not by so much that it's a big deal.

I think it was god timing, especially if you hadn’t sent STD.and if you don’t hear from ppl a few days after your rsvp due dates (remember us the due date as when to be mailed out, and don’t account few days for you reach it) then you can kindly remind those about their rsvp. But I don’t think it’s too early that ppl will forget

You are ok. You sent them out early due to the fact that you did not do a save the date is very smart. Thinking of your guest is always the sign of a thoughtful individual. I wish I would have done the same. Congratulations!!!

I’m June 9th and sent mine Monday. I think that’s what WW said to do. Plus with summer starting you want ppl to be able to plan accordingly.

You guys are very right! Too late to worry about it now! I’ll just wait for the rsvp date and follow up with stragglers. Thanks for the reality check! And congrats to all these dates coming up!

Congrats date twin! I already sent mine out. I don't think it's too early. I don't like waiting to last moment and want plenty of time to get the count to my venue.

We are date twins! I haven't sent mine yet. I ordered some and when they arrived last week I hated them so had to reorder, they should get here today. I plan on putting them together and sending them out around the first of April. Our RSVP date is May 15th. We did std's though, so I definitely don't think you're too early!
