Invitations and seat chart

Michelle, on August 18, 2020 at 9:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Hi!

So I ordered little thank you tags, seat name cards, and have the invitations designed. I haven’t order the invitations yet because covid........

When I ordered the thank you tags, and seat cards, I made sure I could get the invitations in the same design but I didn’t actually check for a seating chart. I actually forgot about it completely until a recent post on here! I can’t find a seating chart that matches the greenery on the other items. So I would like opinions on the one I found with the already chosen design for the invitations ect. Our wedding is mainly orange and fuchsia, sunset feel. Everything is tropical theme, since we will be in Jamaica. There will be a lot of green (palm leaves ect) and some yellow, pink and white flowers too. Images below. The seating chart has the destination wedding and sunset feel, but no tropical or greenery.

Do they look ok together? Should I keep looking for matching greenery? The seating chart and invitations have not been purchased yet, or finalized (some minor changes needed)

Thanks in advance for the input!

I would create your own seating chart using Publisher or word and you can copy the design from art found on the web.

The one you chose isn't bad, but I think I would try to recreate it to match.

That’s a great suggestion. Yea I felt like I was just giving up lol and settling. I also haven’t spent that much on the current stuff, so realistically I still have the time and ability to change everything slightly hahaha

Publisher and Word have become 2 of my closest friends in planning. I couldn't find the right stationary and ultimately created my own using some of the ideas I found on various sites. Life's too short to just settle.

I don't think it will look weird or anything. Have you tried looking at other wedding websites or Etsy to see if you could find something similar?

I did some looking on Etsy, and other sites but got tired of looking through pages. I found some similar but not quite right. I’ll still continue to look and if needed I can just put it on a blank card lol. My wedding is also very small, so I had thought about glasses of champagne at the entrance with the name and table number on it some how, and skip the seating chart

You wrote that you have seat name cards which I'm guessing are like escort cards. I wouldn't tht you'd need both escort cards and a seating chart. You normally do one or the other.

Yes, the name cards would be at each seat, but based on other posts, I got the impression I need to navigate people to a table, then a card for their seat.....? BUT if I don’t need both, then........that changes things lol

If you already the cards, you won't really need a seating chart. Just be sure to have on your card what table and/or seat number (if you're being super specific). Then just be sure you have a number on each seat at each table so your guests know which seat their assigned.

Typically the escort cards have both the individual’s name and table number. They are all arranged in alphabetical order on a table near the reception area, so the person grabs their card and uses it to tell them which table to sit at. I don’t think you will need the chart!

What we did was have them at the entrance of the reception in alphabetic order and then they grabbed them and found their seat from there. We didn't specially say what seat they had to sit in just what table. If you want them to sit in a specific seat then yes you would need to sit it at each seat.

I agree, no need to duplicate, just use the cards themselves. If you feel you want the seating chart, I would do a plain one over the orange and yellow sample above. Good luck and best wishes!

Thanks! So if I want everyone to sit in a specific seat, then I should just have the name cards at the seat, and no seating chart? I don’t want a free for all or for people to be wandering around trying to find their seat. I think there will only be 3 tables, and about 22 guests.....covid makes the guest list slightly unconfirmed lol. But because it is small, finding their name amongst 3 tables should be ok? I feel like there should be something to direct people to the right table and then to the right seat. I like the idea of choosing your own seat at the table, but I worry someone may get left out and just get whatever seat is left. I guess I’ll skip the seating chart, and maybe just have someone help direct people if there are troubles. It does make my life easier I guess haha

No, if you want them to sit in a specific seating then you should have a seating chart. I meant was if you just assign them a table. As long as they are assigned to a table no one should be left out.

Thank you Veronica, you have been a great help. I’ll just do the cards at the front with table numbers, and let everyone sit at their specific table, but whatever seat. Just sounds so much easier. Thanks again!

I had the exact same problem! Same design too! Love it! I found tumbalinastudio and it had some great options! The leaves are a little “short and fat” vs “long and skinny”! I love all of her designs so maybe something will work! Best of luck to you!Invitations and seat chart 5
