Invitations and dress code

Alondra, on December 12, 2022 at 8:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I have some questions… it’s ok to send the invitation via email? I was thinking to give a physical invitation to the most important guests, like parents and close family. And about the dress code, i think that one of my possible bridemaids might wear something noticeable to overshadow the others… should i choose the same dress for them or put a dress code in case, i don’t make her one of my bridemaids? I appreciate all the suggestions!

You previously said your wedding was July of 2024. Don't worry about save the dates and invitations, it's much too early. By most standards it's too early to have chosen bridesmaids. It does sound as though you should hold off with bridesmaids and details until 10 months before, especially since you're already worried about drama.

It's okay to email STDs but invitations send the tone for the formality of the event. If I received an invitation to a wedding by email, I'd assume jeans were acceptable and the food is BBQ.

One thing to think about is that by treating “more important”guests differently you may offend the others. If I received an email invitation and saw that others had a formal one, I would assume I was on the B-list.

As others have said, it’s really early to be thinking of invitations. If I did receive an email invitation I would assume that the wedding is very casual. The invitation does kind of indicate the formality of the event.
