Invitations - Address Labels or Handwriting Addresses

Kaysey, on November 19, 2019 at 12:46 PM Posted in Planning 2 32

I'm getting ready to send out the invitations for my wedding this week and I was just wondering if you all have made the decision on printing address labels for guests, or if you plan on handwriting them on the invitations?

The company I got my invitations from did not offer the option of addressing them, as some companies do. I do have return labels printed so I will not have to write my and my fiance's name and address on the RSVP's but I was wondering what you are planning on (or what you have) done for your invites?

Have you considered just printing directly onto the envelopes? That’s what we did for save the dates and we loved the way they turned out. I also think printing on address labels is fine!

We printed directly on our save the date envelopes but our invites were printed by the company. Had it not been a free service, we would have printed directly on the envelopes again.

I have thought about doing that but I have no clue how to haha. That would be easiest to do. I’ll have to look into it! Smiley smile

I handwrote mine, but I only had around 25 to do. It's a lot of work, but if you want to do it, go ahead and put on some Netflix (or disney +) and go for it!

I wrote ours. I don’t have the best handwriting in the world but it’s legible 🤷🏻‍♀️ People look at the envelope for 2 seconds and then throw it out. I didn’t feel it was worth more money to make them fancier or neater. It took a while to address them but I did it over the course of a week. Addressed like 20 per day. It wasn’t bad.

I have around 60 to write out. I wrote them out on our save the dates, so it’s something I might do again. You’re right though, it’s just time consuming.

I keep going back and forth with the idea. I know that the envelope will just get thrown away anyway which is why I was going to do labels

That’s what I think I’m going to do. I wrote them out for our save the dates and I’m with you; the envelopes will be in the trash seconds after they open it. I have about 60 to write out so I could binge watch a Netflix show while I do it haha

I don't have the patience or time to hand write envelopes. As long as it gets delivered to the right address, I am good.

I’m definitely printing the address labels, I really don’t have enough time in the day to sit down and hand write them

Yeah totally haha. My hand did start to get tired and my handwriting noticeably worse after about 20 though. So just make sure to leave yourself enough time to do it in 2 or 3 different sessions in case you need to rest your hand.

We used wraparound labels from Etsy and they turned out gorgeous! https://www.etsy.com/listing/602346582/wrap-around-labels-printable-address?ref=hp_rf-1&frs=1

I will be making return address labels for ours. The save the dates we just hand wrote, my FH also has decent handwriting so we took turns doing it. I'm planning on doing the same thing for the invites. All the invites we have ever received have been hand written. I just don't think it's worth the money to print labels for them. But return address labels are super cheap like on Vistaprint.

We used clear Avery labels and they worked out perfectly! Best of all when it came time for the Thank You cards I already had the addresses typed up in the label templates and was able to just reprint them.

I plan on printing directly on to the Save the Date postcards and invitation envelopes with my printer at home. It takes some troubleshooting to figure out which direction is the correct way, but at least with my Word file I can quickly update the size for the envelopes and it will already have all our addresses in there and stylized Smiley smile
