Invitation-zip code included?

Katie, on May 3, 2018 at 8:23 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
This may be a silly question but are zip codes typically put on wedding invitations? I feel like I’ve seen comments on this before but don’t feel like searching! I’m leaning towards no but just wanted some input Smiley smile

Nope! Not necessary Smiley smile City and State will suffice.

Uhm you need a zipcode for things to be mailed....

I'm pretty sure the post office won't deliver if you don't have a zip code with the address.

Yes add because you want the invite to get to the correct address.

Sometimes there are addresses with the same street name in the same city but different zip codes. Be safe and add it!

Lol, yes I know that. The invitation will be inside of an envelope that has the full address including zip code. I meant on the actual invitation itself.

Ok I guess I should have worded that differently. I’m not taking about on the envelope that the invitation will be INSIDE of, I’m talking about on the actual invitation itself. Obviously I know to put a full address including zip code on an envelope.

I believe you are asking about the invitation itself or the reception card (and not the envelope you mail it in). In that case, no, I didn't include the zip code of my wedding location, just the City/State. That is enough information that people can find it in google maps, etc.

Wait you mean for where you put the venue address? That's very different than addressing the actual invitation. You may want to make sure you're being clear because when you say the invitation it sounds like you mean the entire invite that you are addressing and mailing out.

If its an inquiry about the venue address then I don't think its necessary but I would put the zip code just to ensure there is no confusion. But I don't think its 100% necessary.

Yes, this exactly. I thought that putting invitation would be clear but I guess not 🙃

If you’re talking about the venue address than no you don’t need to put the zip code. That’s not how your original question is worded though.

It's part of the mailing address. Why would you not include it?

That's funny that people took it to mean the envelope, I knew what you meant hahaha. You usually don't see the zip code on the invite, just the street address, city and state of your venue location. Smiley smile

I believe you just include the venue name, city, and state.

That’s what I thought but I have also seen invitations that do include the zip code as well. I guess it can really go either way. I just recall people on here asking for critique on they’re invitations and people pointing out that they didn’t need the zip so that’s why I questioned it myself before ordering ours.

I think it would only need to be included for people's GPS. Try searching for the address without it and if it pulls up the right place, leave the zip code off.
