Invitation Wording

TwoGeeksWed, on November 6, 2015 at 11:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I've been working on our invitation design this week, and am THISCLOSE to having it figured out. But, now I'm stuck/not sure which wording I should use.

We are getting married on a Sunday and the tentative start time for the ceremony is 4:30 PM. Our ceremony and reception are in the same location. We plan on doing a first look and trying to get some photos out of the way before the ceremony, so there won't be a cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception.

At the bottom of the invitation, should I use the phrase "reception to immediately follow" or "dinner and dancing to follow" ?

Edited to add invitation...

I think either would work - I used reception to follow.

I googled "wedding invitation wording, no cocktail hour" and found tons of examples with "Dinner and dancing to follow" or similar (Dinner and Merriment to Follow). I didn't find any that said "immediately". I'd definitely go with Dinner and... Smiley smile

Reception immediately following is probably standard. Are you not having a cocktail hour because of the photos? If so, you can consider taking photos before the ceremony. If you just don't want a cocktail hour then that is a different thing.

We said dinner and dancing to follow, a lot of people commented that they liked the more festive wording.

Reception immediately following or Dinner and Dancing to immediately follow.

We're writing "feast and merriment to follow"

I will probably keep it super simple and say "join us for a reception immediately following the ceremony @ "insert address here" because we are having our reception at a different venue".
