Hi all
My husband & I were married 4 yrs ago in a civil ceremony...he is not from the US so we had a small intimate ceremony (just immediate family) for immigration purposes. Now the time has come where we can afford & want to have a reception w/our extended family & friends. We are having a Catholic ceremony--our priest agreed to the convalidation because of our extenuating circumstances. I feel like I need to explain myself, since I may get accused of wanting to have a "pretty princess day" but really it is important to me to be married in the Church and 4 years ago, we couldn't do it on such short notice.
I need help with wording my invitations. Our guests all know we are married already. But, since we are getting married in the Church, it's not exactly a vow renewal either.
I was thinking of something like:
__&__
request the honor of your presence at the nuptial Mass for the blessing of their marriage
Does this make sense? Any other suggestions?
