Invitation Wording

Jessica, on August 30, 2020 at 9:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
My parents are divorced and my mom and grandma are contributing most to the wedding. My dad hasn’t been a huge part of my life for the last 15 years and is most likely not contributing at all to the wedding. So how do I word the host line on our invitations? My dad doesn’t deserve the honor of being on our invitations but I don’t want to be rude. We’re having a Catholic wedding with a full mass so I still want the invitations to be more traditional if possible.

Tradition changes so I say put your mom and grandma. Why not? 😊

I agree with putting your mom and grandma on there. If they're the ones hosting and your dad hasn't really been in your life, you don't owe him anything. That wouldn't be rude.

The host line is reserved for whoever is putting it on (paying). You could say “the brides family invites you to celebrate...”

If you’re not against it, you could totally do something generic like please join us in celebrating the wedding of ___&___.

Thanks! This was one of the ones we came across first and might go with it since it is more "formal."
