Invitation Wording - Back Up Date

Angie, on April 10, 2020 at 4:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

Hello all! I am going to be sending out our invites this week. Just like many of you summer brides, due to COVID-19, we have a back up date being held by our venue and vendors in case we cannot have our wedding on the original date. I ordered the invites a while back so I cannot change anything on them. I updated our website so it has our back up plan listed, but I wanted to insert a small card in the invites. I'm looking for how to word it. I want to write something about how we are still planning on our current date, and that we hope everyone stays healthy. But to pencil in our back up date just in case and we will let them know asap if that's the route we will be going.

Thanks!

I agree with PP and I also think your wording is suffice it's short and to the point.

    Hi Angie,

I agree with the PP that keeping it simple is probably best. When's your back-up date? Have you given any thought to how you'd officially announce a postponement? Would it be posted on your wedding website? Would you send an electronic update for RSVPs?

The only pieces of information that I might suggest adding to your alternate date announcement within your invitations are 1) the date by which you will make this decision and 2) the method by which you will contact guests. I suggest something like: "We will notify you via [email, text, and/or postcard] by [date] about any changes to our current plan." This may help with travel plans.

I'm wishing you the best of luck! Smiley heart
