Invitation: Where do I put Plus One?

Anne, on January 26, 2017 at 10:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

My invites include the invite and RSVP card and return envelope. There is no inner envelope for the invite itself. Therefore, guests names will be on the outer mailing envelope.

This is not a problem for the Mr and Mrs or the names of couples I know by name but we have about 3 people we are inviting who are w/o a SO. We are giving them Plus ones. Can I just put Joe Smith and Guest on the outer mailing envelope? Is that acceptable? What other ideas do y'all have?

Yes, that's perfectly fine. That's what we did.

ETA: Mr. Joseph Smith and Guest if you're being formal

I just put "Mr. Joe Smith and Guest" on the outer envelope (I didn't use inner envelopes either). I only did this for truly single guests that I had no idea who they would bring. They either RSVP'd without a guest, or RSVP'd with their guest's name so that I could use it for the seating chart.
