Invitation - unsure now

Meghan, on June 25, 2021 at 3:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
We decided to purchase just invitations and use electronic RSVP through the knot. We created this and added a QR code to the back of the invitation. I’m also going to add the hotel info with the invitation, which hotel provided us with.

Do you think this looks okay? Our wedding is formal and questioning if it doesn’t give that impression. The paper is textured, which you can’t really tell in the image. My sisters weren’t crazy about them and now I’m really second guessing it. It’s also a no kid wedding, but we have it set up on the knot where they only RSVP who’s listed. Our wedding website also says no kids.
I think I may be overthinking this too much and would appreciate any feedback. Do you think I should add anything or leave as is? Thank you!

Being double-sided does give it a more casual feel, along with the QR code but really is personal preference.

I personally have never felt like online RSVPs go with formal invites, same with two-sided invites, but I also feel like I'm the most unnecessarily pretentious about invitation suites in general and constantly have to talk myself down from being like ...why lol.

Honestly, they are just fine if that's what you want to do. As Cool said, the QR code and being double sided do make them feel more casual. If it's important to you that your invitation perfectly match the formality of your wedding, then at the very least I would have a one-sided invitation and include the QR code on a separate details card with any other information you need to let guests know.

Right that’s what I’m thinking now. Any ideas on how I can make what I have more formal? Maybe adding something to it?

Do you think I should buy new invites or have any ideas of what I can do to add to the current one I have?

I don't think there's anything you can do to add to your current ones to make them more formal, unless you do something to cover the back information and order a separate card. You could have paper cut in the color of your text (I think that's navy) a smidge bigger than your current invites and glue it to the back, but that takes time and money. Or, you can just order new ones. Sorry I don't have any other advice for you.

You're welcome. They are beautiful invites! I think the biggest thing here is if you feel they're formal enough or not.

You could add a vellum wrap to it and attach it with ribbon and/or a wax seal! That would help emphasize the formality of it.

I personally appreciate online RSVPs lol. To me their SO much easier than sending a card in, and it saves on paper waste and money!

I always feel so bad cus I hateeeee “wasting” things. I usually get rid of everything that comes with an invite right when I receive it and thought these would be more practical / environmentally friendly, but I feel like it’s missing that wow factor. That’s a great idea! Will def look into adding those. Thank you!

Many people, especially older, will not look on the back. Not everyone is familiar with QR code’s, even the tech savvy ones. Not sure how you can make it more formal without buying extra inserts.

I personally feel that if your wedding is formal, the invitations should reflect that. I think the layout and font are appropriate but the QR Code and double sided invitation isn’t. If it’s in the budget, I’d purchase RSVP cards & envelopes and a details card to include in your mailing.

I think the two sided and the QR code makes it look a tad bit more casual but they’re still pretty.
Also, your name and your fiancé’s name don’t line up (aren’t starting on the same lines) so that also adds to the casual factor. You could add an RSVP card and cover the back as someone else mentioned

I would use a whole puncher and add a dark blue or black ribbon or what ever your wedding color is to add a little flare. You already spent money on them and invitations are not cheap
