Invitation to Follow?

Sav, on January 27, 2021 at 5:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I had my Save the dates created, and I tried to find a place to put "invitation to follow" on it, but it just looked out of place no matter what I did. It's a magnet, so I don't have the back to write on. Is there an alternative?

Invitations to follow should be a given.

I do see that phrase on most save the dates, but as previously mentioned, I think it's a given and not something to make a big deal over, especially if it's a magnet

This is often included, but totally optional. If you can't find room for it aesthetically, it's totally fine to leave it off. Smiley smile

I just noticed I don’t have that on mine and think it’s a given an invite is to follow. I wouldn’t worry about adding it

We just eliminated that phrase on our STD magnets. I think the "invitation to follow" is implied, and most people understand that. If it won't fit/doesn't look right on your magnets, I wouldn't worry about including it.

I didn't include "invitation to follow" on our Save the Date magnets either. I used the space to include our website URL.

It's usually implied. If you can fit it, then try to. Otherwise don't worry about it.

If there isn't room I wouldn't worry about it. I added it to mine only because I had the extra space and used a card that had a front and backside, which I added to the back at the very bottom.

Below is the back side of my card.

I've never seen anyone put invitation to follow. I think it is pretty common sense.

I didn’t put that on mine- it’s definitely implied that as invitation will follow. If it doesn’t fit or looks weird then don’t put it.

I think a large majority will know an invite will follow.. I would just make sure that everyone you send one too also gets an invite mailed to them when the time comes Smiley smile!

I think it should be fine. I made sure to have it on ours because my family isn't from the US, and save the dates aren't a thing. Even with "invitation to follow," my mom and I got many confused phone calls about why there was so little information. My husband's side recieved no such calls. If your guests are familiar with the practice of a save the date, then you should be fine.

It's completely optional! Most of your guests will automatically know that there will be an invite to follow.

I didn't put this on my "save the dates". I thought it was a given and also wanted to save the space/eliminate any extra text.

I have to say that “invitation to follow” is NOT a given of your audience is older. Save the dates are a fairly new concept and the older generations do not understand them. If your invite group is of the younger generations then yes skip it, no big deal. However, if many of your guests are of the older generations then they will not understand that it is a “save the date” and will be annoyed that there is not more info.

I put it on mine, but my design had a specific place for it! I don’t think you need to put it!
