Invitation Postage

Lexi, on March 16, 2019 at 12:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We just recently received our invitations and had them weighted at the post office. The lady said that they must equal the $1.15 stamp. She showed us the option they have in the post office and it's a green succulent (international stamp). She also said we could put multiple stamps on them but they have to equal the $1.15.

After that I went home and looked online at USPS to see if they had any other stamps around that price. Not really. I'm also confused why it is the international stamp, considering we're not sending any out of the U.S.

For those who had to have a stamp like that, did you find a stamp somewhere else? Or did you use multiple stamps? Help, I'm clueless on stamps

It doesn’t matter where you are sending the mail, it just depends on the weight. You need to pay $1.15 in postage to cover the weight of your invitations. All stamps are the same price no matter where you get them I believe? If you use multiple stamps, it just has to equal $1.15.

All they care about is the price you pay based on the weight of the envelope; the cost to mail your invitations just happen to equal the cost to mail a letter internationally, which is why you can use a single international stamp or a combination of other stamps that add up to that same price. Personally I would just go with the single international stamp. Is there something you don't like about it?

So you could put one of each of the boutineer/ corsage "wedding stamps." Attached is the best image I could quickly find, it's the note cards with the stamp images. The pink boutonnieres are the regular $.55 stamp, the creamy corsages are 2 oz stamps, they are $.70 each. That puts you a little over, but gives another look.

I needed $0.70 stamps for mine. The post office had only non-machinable yellow butterfly stamps at that price, so I got a couple sheets of yellow butterflies. The lady who sold them to me acted like she wouldn't use them for wedding invitations, lol. But I'm not about to stress over stamps.

So basically, I'd just use the succulents. I like succulents, anyway. But I'm not a person who cares so much about stamps.

Mine happened to be the 55 cent stamp. I just got the flag ones now point in stressing which stamp to get no one typically cares about the stamp as long as it’s enough postage that the invite gets delivered! (Some of my invites even got my left over snoopy Christmas stamps 😂) best of luck!

Ours weighed $1.10. I was fortunate to get a really nice postal worker who ran the empty envelopes through the machine.
