Invitation postage how much?

Amy L, on June 6, 2014 at 12:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

How much did your invitations cost per invite to mail? I just went to the post office with one. It's going to cost .91 so that's a pretty wedding stamp .70 a .21 Abe Lincoln stamp not so pretty. Even the guy at the post office told me it wasn't going to be pretty. All bc I have a ribbon type thing. Yes I can take it off but I like it and spent time tying them all. Maybe I can use a pretty wedding stamp a post card stamp?

I got lucky. Mine weighed in at .9oz so I was able to use one forever stamp. I had them weighed three times at two different USPS locations just to be sure.

There is a Canadian bride on here that is using goat stamps. I love them! I would love to receive an invitation with a silly stamp!

Mh, have you looked on the USPS website? They have A LOT more stamps there and maybe you find something that you like.

Mine were just a forever stamp. Ladies who haven't put together invites yet, remember to think about the cost of Postage!!! I have gotten so many compliments on our invites and there weren't any extra ribbons or baubles.

They have the 34 Cent stamp with hummingbirds. Sorry, I can't get it to link....

I'm gonna go look on the website and see what I can find. I'm also going to go to another post office, I still have plenty of time I'm just staring early.

I work with post offices all of the time. The best thing to do is to go to the post office with a sample. Also for your RSVP return postage if it meets the size requirements of a post card you can pay for a post card stamp. If your invitations do not include an inner envelope consider getting your envelopes hand stamped. The post office may make you stamp them yourself, but some times when the machine stamps them the envelops can get smudged or it can get dirty. Another option if your stamps weigh a good amount is to get the wedding postage. The wedding stamps will take care of shipping for traditional invitations that include all of the cards. Another option to consider is only during return RSVP for non tech savy people invited and have the other RSVP electronically. They have the barcode ( I forgot what they are called) you can print on your invitations. Your guest will just scan them to RSVP. The great thing is it is instantaneous and it will update your headcount automatically. I don't work for the postal service. I just handle maintenance for them so I've learned a few tricks.

I went for standard size envelopes, they will only have a folded card, the rsvp card and then the hotel and directions on another card. It's still under the weight so I can use the forever stamps. The rsvp for the ones I will be putting a stamp on they are part card size so it's even cheaper.

I just needed one Forever stamp.

Zazzle (and prob other sites) will let you order custom postage with a custom pic. They do say zazzle.com on them, but they come out cute!

I've got you beat! Mine are $1.12 a piece. WHAT!? Never expected that ... so with the stamp on the inside too, I'm paying way more than expected ... because of that we've decided to hand deliver to our family, some of our close friends, and our coworkers. They can deal with it Smiley smile

I was very careful when designing and making our invites that they weighed under forever stamp weight. I didn't even get weddingish stamps. I think I got winter flowers and vintage seed pack print stamps. I have never noticed the damn stamp on an invitation, usually it is all blacked up with the PO machine stamp.

but if you really want one stamp that looks pretty, as Stephanie said you can try Zazzle.

Ok, so I must be an idiot because I made my invites. I am in love with them, they are gorgeous, but they have to be hand cancelled, so it's going to cost me 2.32 each!!!!!!

    I can't believe it! I'm annoyed!

I was able to use one forever stamp for each invite, so it wasn't expensive at all.
