Invitation oops

Ali, on August 14, 2017 at 3:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

We finally got our invitations today (a month later then expected). The respond by date is September 1. Less then two weeks to respond. I'm including another home made card that apologizes and lets them know if they can't RSVP by that date as soon as they can is fine. Any other suggestions? Help!

When do you have to have your final numbers in by? You don't want people to do it "whenever" or you will have unaccounted for guests showing up that never RSVP'd.

When are you final numbers due? One week between final numbers and RSVP due date isn't all that bad. Just hope you don't have a ton of people to f/u with.

Yeah, ditch the card. I'd send anyways and call people a week after the deadline if they haven't replied yet (as long as that's doable with your final count deadline)

September 1 is a SUPER early RSVP date for a mid-October wedding. Invites should barely have gone out by then (6-8 weeks before the wedding is the proper time frame.) I would get new RSVP cards rush printed with a more reasonable response date; September 22 should give you plenty of time.

Are your final numbers due super early? A respond by date of 9/1 for a 10/13 wedding seems really early. I know the problem is probably just that you already printed the respond by date on the invitations, though. I'd write something on the hand-made card that apologizes for the delay and give a new RSVP date, like September 12th or something.

    Hi date twin Smiley smile

My RSVP deadline is Sept 18th and I think that is even a little early, because all my counts are due 1-2 prior.

Your idea for the insert is totally great, maybe make it a little comical, poke a little fun at yourselves.

Just make sure that your guests are aware what's going on. It's not ideal, but we all make mistakes!

I would not send that homemade card.... that's like telling people you don't have a hard RSVP date, which isn't true. If you send that card, you're more likely to not have people RSVP. But why do you need responses so early?

    Hi date twin!

definitely don't do a "whenever" date. you need to dictate a legitimate date if you make a new card insert. i would try to get a new RSVP card printed if you can

Thank you everyone for your input and ideas. I don't need to have the final count/payment to my venue until October 1st. I put the September 1st date because I'm a teacher and wanted ever single wedding detail to be complete before the start of the school year, including seating arrangements. I've decided to include a slightly comical card( found something to match the invitations) with a new RSVP date.

If your RSVP cards were in black ink, maybe you could take a pen and discretely change the one to a seven, to give a little extra time to RSVP. Just a suggestion.

Can you sneak in a 9 after the 1 and make it 19?
