Invitation- including parents name etiquette

Pham, on February 27, 2018 at 10:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
I was wondering what’s the etiquette for adding parents name to the wedding invitations. I know traditionally it’ll be parents hosting name listed. So for our wedding we are paying for 75% and my parents are helping out 25% of the cost. I initially wanted to keep it traditional but some people are telling me that it is bad etiquette to not add FILs names and that some people on their side might not realize who’s getting married without his parents name (not really sure about this). Also people have told me the in-laws may take offense to this.

Many advice? Do most people run by their invites to their parents and/or FHs parents before making it official??

I put “together with their families” because everyone is chipping in with costs but his parents are both divorced and remarried so I wasn’t about to list that many people. Never ran it by anyone though I just did what I want

My parents paid 10% and we paid 90%, regardless we put "Together with Their Families." It just felt so wrong to exclude his family because they weren't handing us money.

Yep - "together with their families" is the way to go. It is not bad to etiquette to include or not include anyone's names, it is just a choice.

I didn't put our parents names. My H was never fond of the names or the phrase together with their families. It made sense to not have their names since our parents contributions were like 4%, and I did all the planning research etc, no support in any wedding choice.

Another "together with their families" user. We're paying most of it, and it feels antiquated to me to say our parents are Hosting this party for everyone... We are hosting! It's our party! Haha

We are about the same as who’s paying for what and I still put my parents at the top. Our names in the middle and he has son of under his name with their names listed.

Looking back I should of stuck with ‘together with our families’ but that’s because my mom is a $&:?! and I shouldn’t honor her.

We said "Please come to the wedding of X and Y," with the place, date, and time in smaller print. Our party, not our parents'.

Ask what the in laws prefer. My fiance wanted his parents name on the invites so we listed my parents (divorces and remarried) on top then mine and fiances names and under his name added son of and his parents names. This way there wasnt a whole list of names on top as the hosts. I tried that and it looked and read bad.
