Invitation Enhancements

Mrs.Soon2Be, on May 24, 2017 at 8:52 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Have any of you enhanced your wedding invites or made them into a DIY project? We just got our invites from Vistaprint and I really love them however am thinking of adding something extra just to add some "cuteness" to it. I would love to see photos if any of you have to share for ideas Smiley smile

I made the belly bands and envelope liners myself as well as the menu insert.

I made my own envelope liners. Doing this saved $70 over all but was mainly so I could have unique liners that matched my invitation. If you go this route, I suggest bulk wrapping paper. I got a 100' roll from papermart.com for $26. Then I bought a rotary cutter kit from Amazon. The board with measuring guides is 100% necessary. Also, you need a rounded corner punch to make them look best.

It took me about 6 hours to cut 180 liners. I'm still waiting on the corner punch to do that. I measured off the sample I ordered and should have my invites early June to tape them in. Once I finalize one I will post a pic.

I'm going to do all my invites myself! I like the added extras like lace and ribbons, you could always tie it around the invite. Envelope liners are a nice touch too.

We ordered invitations and belly bands and made monogram cards, rsvp inserts, and welcome dinner inserts. I love how they all turned out!

I got a gold leafing pen from Michaels and drew a gold border around my Save The Dates. I also put a line of washi tape with a gold filigree design on the front-bottom of the envelope.

We got our invites from vistaprint as well. I just finished making the invitation folder for the invite, the folder has a pocket for the rsvp and other info (i bought big paper from a paper company and calculated where to fold and cut to make the folders - there are how-tos online). Then I made two belly bands (one of a bit larger) for two of our contrasting wedding colors. I ordered some custom monogram invite embellishments - fairly economical - (they should be in today) that I will glue to a slightly larger card and glue onto the place where the belly band closes around the folder. I should get the embellishment today and can post a picture of the mock-up. It has been a long project - took four tries before the folder was exactly like it needed to be (everything fit and the folder fit the envelope). Then to make them all! They don't get sent until August but I plan to work on them a little at a time - started a month ago.

Minted didn't offer belly bands and I felt like my invites needed a little extra something to tie it all together (literally), so I made these simple ones from navy blue grosgrain ribbon.
