Invitation details insert

aknight, on August 27, 2016 at 11:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

So when I send my invitations I'll be including the invitation (obviously lol) the RSVP card, and a details card. Our ceremony AND reception will be outdoors, so I want to put that on the details card so they know in advance so they can dress for the weather. I was going to put something like this, "Ceremony and reception will be outdoors, please dress accordingly". Or "....please dress according to the weather." BUT I was thinking that makes me sound bossy and like I don't trust the adults to properly dress themselves. But I think just putting "Ceremony and reception will be outdoors." Sounds too short! How do I let them know without sounding rude? lol

Is this a place and date where the weather isn't very variable?

It's the end of October. The 22nd. It's usually warmer during the day and chilly at night. And I don't want them wearing stilettos and walking outside.. Ya know? But I guess that has nothing to do with the weather..

Do you have a wedding website? Could you just put it on there? If not I would just say that both will be outside. Don't mention dressing accordingly, it sounds like you're talking to a bunch of kids worded that way. But then again I say that multiple times throughout the school year so I'm actually saying it to kids when I say it.

So is this period of time going to span both the warm and the chilly? I would mention it on the website and not include in the invitation

My ceremony was outside & reception was inside. This is what mine said, "Please be aware that the ceremony will be outdoors. Therefore, dressy casual summer attire would be most comfortable."

I think by saying "would be most comfortable" it makes it sound like you're more concerned about their comfort than you are about them following a dress code. I actually would include it in the details. Not everyone takes the time to look at the website.

Okay! I think I'm just going to put "Please be aware that the ceremony and reception will be outdoors." And leave it at that. They'll know what the weather is like. Everyone lives within 30 minutes of the venue. Lol

Outdoors is not enough. Will your guests have to walk on grass, or is there pavement or trail? Will you have a tent, and fans/air conditioning/heating?

I would suggest heaters for the tent if its going to drop in temp.

Ceremony and reception will be outdoors please dress accordingly sounds just fine. Your guests should be aware of the weather at the time of how to dress accordingly. It's just a nice courtesy reminder.

Not bossy at all. You have to tell them.. mine is outdoors also. They'll be more "upset" not knowing. Especially the women with their shoes depending on if there is grass or not.. also, there's a website www.aliexpress.com they have these plastic things I heard about that go on the bottom of the ladies heels so their heel wont gobin the grass.. I say definitely remind them to dress for the weather

I agree with A.L.C. I think we may need more details. At first we were going with a beach wedding but then considering the elements we decided against it. Especially since ours is a July wedding. Some things we were going to have for our guests were sunshades, sunscreen, water bottles, flip flops, and a throw just in case it got chilly later. We also wanted a tent etc. Is there an alternate plan if inclement weather arises? These are some of the things your guest may want to know ahead.
