Typically, any travel costs associated with attending a wedding, local or destination, are the responsibility of the individual guests and not to the couple. Did you have specific questions regarding guests booking flights?

My guests already booked there flight as airfare is high they needed to early to get a good price. I have rooms blocked out at the resort . I would like to experience the save the date or invite that brides do yet, not sure if it’s nessacery or what I could do/send.

It’s common and expected for guests to arrange and purchase their own travel arrangements.

I would like to still be able to mail a save the date or some sort of wedding invite. Looking for recommendations. What would you do? Your guests booked there flights already yet not the resort. Flights were booked early due to availability.

Save the dates and invites are 2 separate announcements. If your wedding is 5 months from now, you can still send digital save the dates or call your guests now. Formal invitations should be mailed 8-10 weeks before the date to get RSVP's by the deadline date for your caterer (usually 1-2 wks before). You do not have to monitor your guests travel arrangements.

A save the date is a reminder. If they already know about it and are making plans to go, then no.

Yes, you should still send invitations so you can let them know the schedule of events, have them RSVP for everything (like someone might not make it to a welcome party if you’re having one, so you’ll want to know how many people to expect for each event), dress code, select food preferences if you’re doing plated meals, and a link to your wedding website if you have one. So there’s still plenty of info to give your guests and get from your guests even if you already know exactly who’s coming. Save the dates probably aren’t necessary here, though.

I would still send invitations to make sure they know about accommodations, if they need to select their meal, etc.

At this point, I would skip save the dates but definitely mail your guests invitations. I had several guests who booked their rooms at my hotel block before I mailed out my invitations

Personally, I would still send STDs ASAP. I think they should be sent as a courtesy (and reminder) for every destination wedding. Plus you can include your wedding website on them, where you can include resort info and any other info they may need for the duration of their trip. You would then send formal invitations 6-10 weeks before your wedding.

I just had a destination wedding and the guests were the ones who purchased their flights etc. I just mentioned in the invitation that gifts were not needed since they are spending alot on travel costs.

Thank you for this. May I ask or see what your invites looked like or how it was worded?

I dont have a picture of it on this device but for that part of the invite I said "Your probably thinking of present you'll need to bring. But just your presence will mean everything." I also had a picture of our dog under it so it looks like shes saying it it was cute. But I did not get my invites from minted. My invite was from Etsy it was a passport booklet.

I love it! I’m literally on Etsy now browsing. I was thinking of mailing my guests a luggage tag that has some thing on one side: example “And so the adventure begins” and then enclosing a nice printed card some thing of the effect. But I’m having a hard time
With the wording or finding a printer - any suggestions would help. Reminder my guests already booked their airfare. Cancun in March

I attached the link to the invites I ordered. This company is from London but they literally made it so easy and helped me alot with the wording I learned so much from just writing an invitation properly. I liked the passport book not only because its destination theme but you can put alot of information on there like hotel, transportation, timeline of when the wedding starts etc. I hope this helps. https://www.etsy.com/listing/958863021/sage-green-invite-luxury-passport?ref=yr_purchases
