Intro + rsvp Wording??

Alondra S., on March 10, 2018 at 11:39 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8
Hey guys,

I'm new to WeddingWire! I got engaged January 2018, and our wedding is September 29th, 2018 on the Central coast of California.
My fiance and I have been together for 4 1/2 years, it will be 5 years a few weeks before our wedding.

We are putting this wedding together ourselves, and since it's our first wedding, we obviously don't know a ton about traditions/planning/etc!

Now for my question: I'm working on the wording for our RSVP cards. I've seen so many posts about guests getting sooo confused over how to fill out RSVP cards, and I want to eliminate the possibility for confusion the best I can.

I want it to say:

Kindly reply by: August 25th, 2018
Name(s): _____________
°Accepts with pleasure
Number attending ___
°Will celebrate from afar
Please indicate meal choice(s)
Beef __ Pork ___ Chicken ___ Vegetarian ___

Should I put that they should put the # of each meal? Is that enough? Should I add how many seats we have reserved for them? What else?

Thank you guys so much for your help!!!

Add how many seats. And use them initial their meal choice to avoid confusion when meals are given out.

I would just add "for each guest" at the end of "Please indicate meal choice(s)" to remind them to include the choice for each person.

I love your "celebrate from afar" phrasing!

On the seats reserved note, you could have it say "number attending: __ of __ guests invited", where you fill out the number invited. This is if you have to limit/regulate the number of guests attending for any reason. We just had the "number attending" blank, and some guests RSVPd for 4 or 6 people even though the invitation was only addressed to 2... Some of them, we still have no clue who they're bringing! So if you're worried about that, I recommend adding that verbiage. It definitely caught us off guard to see the extra strangers added.

I just edited our invitations but haven't ordered them yet; I almost forgot to add the line "we have x seats reserved for your honor"-wording still pending, though I really like the "attending: _out of _invited" better! I might use that instead!
Our families are huge and we're having an adult only wedding except FH's youngest sister (6 yo) is our flower girl. We're doing a buffet dinner, so we don't have to worry about that part of RSVPs!

    What do you think of:

___ attending out of ___ seats reserved

I don't want to be rude by saying __ out of __ invited.

Or just keeping it as ___ attending out of ___ and just filling out the blank?

I have heard people say when they receive them back the guest forgot to add their names so it was hard to tell who sent them back. They would hide a number into the design and then keep a master list of the numbers you sent to people. Some people even used invisible ink. I have heard it comes in handy.

Good idea! I've heard of using pencil very lightly on the back of the RSVP cards to keep track. How would someone go about hiding a number into the design?
