Intimate Wedding of 50 with dj

Elizabeth, on May 14, 2019 at 7:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hi, we are having an intimate wedding of 50 guests. The majority will be family with a about 15-20 of our closest friends. I've hired a DJ to help with keeping our timeline smooth and background music throughout the evening. I'm skipping the garter and bouquet toss as most folks are already married. What are your opinions on still having a dance with mom/son mom/daughter? Would it be silly to have a dance session after the cake cutting? even if its just 5-10 people dancing? We plan on playing music to fulfill all the ages attending.

Also, our wedding reception will be between 4pm-8/9pm -- has anyone had success with those hours and still have a blast dancing?

We’re only having 30 peeps and a DJ who is doing all the mic announcements, flow and music from pre ceremony to exit. 2:30 to exit at 8:30. WORTH IT to keep background jamz and fun dances and fun flowing.

Yay! Thanks for your response. This is very reassuring. A part of me was worried "what if it's too small a party for dj music"?. lol

I am also having a wedding with 50 people. Was the dj cheaper cause of it or the same price?

50 people is not that small lol & it’s plenty for a great dance party! The number of people doesn’t matter as much, as whether those people like dancing or not.
We’re having 70 people & plan on dancing the night away with a DJ ☺️

From the majority of the DJ's I spoke to they charge the same. Mainly because they are only facilitating your event and not another one in the same day. We hired ours for 4 hours because the church will have their own music for our ceremony. Our DJ came to be $150/hr, however, I believe it's dependent on the area you're located in. I would recommend to have a list of questions handy when screening your potential DJ and read their reviews and date of last review.

LOL! Seems small since most wedding I've been to consist of 100-150 guests. I hope its as much of a blast as I imagine it being Smiley smile .

It will be great! Especially if you have a good DJ & you give him some direction on what type of music you & your guest like.

I plan on doing our cake cutting first.
    Food.
Then the first dance and parent dance.
I figure everybody wants to get right to the food, and we will be finished first. So we can dance while everyone finishes eating.
