Interfaith Ceremony

Natalie, on January 9, 2021 at 6:08 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 16

Hi all

I'm looking for an interfaith rabbi who is in the Capital District or the Catskill region of New York. Albany area and Ellenville area. I DO NOT belong to a synagogue. I am Jewish, but my fiancé is not. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Have you contacted your venue & see if they have any recommendations?

It's going to be at a courthouse or our back yard

At a courthouse you may be restricted to the judges onsite. In your backyard you can use anyone you want as long as they are recognized as legal in your state.

We have the option to sign our Ketubah and break the glass at our vow renewal in 5 years, but I'd rather not wait.

On Yelp, look under "wedding officiants". They will list on their sites what types of services they offer: Christian, Jewish, non-religious, interfaith, etc. Meet with them to see if you click and if they are open to performing the ceremony to your specifications.

On Instagram, browse for "yourcityweddingofficiant" and do the same thing.

You have to get the venue picked out and locked into place before you can do anything else. That includes finding your officiant.

It's a site of one to look for people offering services. I found my engagement abd wedding photographer on there and I found a make-up artist for my engagement photos on there. You can see their reviews as well.
I would think you would type in "interfaith rabbi" in the search bar of thumbtack

Try Rabbi Sugarman! He and his wife both officiate interfaith weddings.
