Intelligent Lighting?

Michelle S., on October 3, 2015 at 11:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

So I requested a contract from a DJ and he charges $250 extra for "intelligent lighting". He briefly explained what it was in our meeting and my understanding is that it's lighting that moves along with the music? I am wondering if it's worth it. Does any one know more about it? Should I just stick with the "dumb" lighting? haha

If you have extra cash lying around, go for it! Otherwise I think it's not worth it - I imagine most people wouldn't really think much of it.

Thank you! I was leaning against it and just wanted to make sure it wasn't something essential to a DJ set-up.

Charging for intelligent lighting is ridiculous. Everyone has intelligent lighting these days because thats all that they make. All we use is LED intelligent lighting. He's just trying to get some extra cash (in my opinion) Unless its uplighting I would scoff, roll my eyes and move on the the next DJ on the list.

Definitely not worth it, but lighting like that is pretty sweet. My father used to have a band so we had some much older versions of this at home for the longest time. The lights were a big hit at parties, but no one would ever look for such a thing or think regular lighting was subpar.

If you are way under budget and want to splurge I bet the lights would be a fun addition, but if not I wouldn't even consider it.
