Instax Mini Guestbook!

Rissachu, on July 9, 2018 at 12:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

My FH bought the Instax Mini and some film for our guest book and it came in the mail yesterday. Naturally, I had to try it out. The lighting inside our apartment is TERRIBLE, but I am still so excited about it. I love the idea of everyone snapping a photo and attaching it to my guest book with washi tape. My FH suggested we have a sign that has instructions on how to take pictures and replace film if they need to because some people might not know how to change it. Do you think that's necessary? I mean, I am 31 and I remember using Polaroids when I was a kid. It's not hard to figure out. I think most people would remember polaroids and we do have limited table space. What do you guys think? Do we need an instruction list?

Trial run.. lol.Instax Mini Guestbook! 1

I remember polaroids growing up but I have NO CLUE how to change the film. I would prefer to have instructions on display ☺

Personally, I have zero clue how to work a camera like that. However, I'd like to think I could figure it out without too much trouble...

I don't think that a sign of instructions is really necessary, but maybe a nice touch to make it easier on guests who don't know how to change the film, etc. I'd just be worried that if someone didn't know how to change the film, they might end up taking the easy way out and not signing your super adorable guest book at all!

    I would have instructions!

We had a big 30th anniversary party for my parents a few months back and did this for a guest book. Everyone loved it!

I have no clue how to change the film, so I'd also prefer a list of instructions if I was the unlucky guest who got stuck with it empty!

    Hi!!
I also have a Polaroid camera. It’s iffy the first time when you put in the film, but after the first it should be easy. The first photo of the film is always the trial. I want to do this idea for my guestbook, but my venue is outside so I don’t think the lighting will be good. But it could be since there will be uplighting lol

I would definitely put instructions for changing the film. I'd know how to use one but not how to change it. Or maybe have a person set to keep checking on whether the film needs to be replaced every so often.

I'm doing this at my wedding! We are going to have a sign that says "photo guestbook , smile and sign"

I've actually been discussing it with my potential photographer and she said that she can take peoples' pictures with it. I have her for 8 hours so she will very likely be done with the pre-ceremony pics by that time, and we aren't having a first look.

Also, a side note, my MOH mentioned that, before guests arrive, the first few pages should be completed. My family, fh's family, the bridal party will put their pictures in. That way they don't forget!! And maybe on the last page FH and I will have a picture of us Smiley smile

We're doing this for our wedding too! I created a simple sign that I'll have framed to help guests figure out the guestbook and I plan to have my brother keep an eye on the table in case somebody struggles to change film or has issues. Make sure you have plenty of film too! I plan to basically have enough film for each guest to take 2 pictures so in case they wanted one to take home too!

We are doing this as well! I really need to take it out of the box and give it a try, haha. We are going to have our 3 nieces and nephews kind of help man the table (aged 10-16) and they'll also ask people if they have had a chance to fill it out during the cocktail hour to ensure people actually do it!

We are doing this too! I think we will just task it to one of our friends or family to check in on the film. Question though, anyone know where to buy bulk for the film that is not super expensive? I've checked amazon and it is super pricey there.

Amazon is about as cheap as you'll get it, unfortunately.

To add: I found this book at a local shop and love it. It comes with stickers to place the photos, pre-measured areas with room to write a message and directions are printed in the book. I also loved that it looked a bit more formal than other books I had seen without a ridiculous pricetag!

We made a sign and also had our DOC help tell people about it. Once the reception started me and my husband started snapping pictures of everyone and passed the camera around the tables. We ended up with almost 100 Polaroids. I loved it! I ordered a instamax album off of amazon to put them in.

Kassie, I'm doing this exact thing! With the frame like that and everything. There's only enough room on each Polaroid for people to write their name. Was that enough? What instructions for the camera did you provide?
