Not too long ago Ayesha Curry, the wife of Stephen Curry, recieved a bit of backlash for saying that she feels insecure due to the lack of attention that she receives from men other than her husband.

Do you think the backlash was warranted? Why or why not?

Does a lack of attention from men outside of your relationship make you feel insecure?

I don’t think she deserves the backlash, people like to feel attractive and admired, especially those with lower self esteem. All living things are kind of vain(especially birds)
She probably feels like she’s getting older, wants to feel validated that she’s still pretty. Her husband will always find her attractive, even when she’s 90 years old and her boobs are to her knees. She wants to know if she’s still attractive to people without that emotional connection.
As long as she’s staying faithful to her marriage I don’t see anything wrong with that.

(I’m personally extremely shy and hate attention so I don’t like it at all)

I can see what she means. It's sort of like although your partner will always find you beautiful, it's just kind of validating when other people also say it? Sort of like when anyone tells you you're beautiful it's a really nice feeling. I love it when my husband compliments me but I guess it's also nice when others do too, ya know?

I don't understand her problem at all. It seems like something only a celebrity would be concerned with as they make their livings off being talked about.
I don't think backlash was warranted if she's not cheating. It's weird but people have all kinds of insecurities anyway. 🤷

I don’t know who these people are, as I don’t follow celebrities, but to me it sounds like an attention seeking statement. Yes, it’s always nice to be complimented, but I would never complain that only my significant other says nice things to me. So if this woman received backlash from this statement, I believe she got exactly what she wanted because I’m sure that there was an equal amount of compliments for each insult made.

I never really got attention from guys to begin with (at least I didn’t notice anything) so it’s not that weird that the only person who gives me that kind of attention is my FH, it’s still weird when he does it sometimes because I’m not used to it xD
I feel like backlash isn’t warranted though, we’re social creatures, we like to know that the effort we put into our appearance has been noticed. I know in my instance, my FH didn’t realize what he was losing (we briefly broke up last year) until he saw someone else want to be with me, and then he realized he didn’t want to live his life without me.
If he can keep noticing other women, I can be noticed.

I also don't think the backlash was warranted. Why do you think birds are vain?

Male birds are very showy, especially peacocks. I love birds but if any creature on earth could be considered vain it’s birds during mating season.

To my understanding she has been faithful in her marriage. I think the internet overreacted a bit.

Ayesha is so beautiful! I think it can be hard being in Steph's "shadow". She's in the spotlight, but at the same time she's not. That's what I think she meant in her comments. I personally could care less if other guys paid attention to me. A man does not validate me or any other woman

I agree that a lot of her insecurity has to do with living in her husband's shadow.
