Inexpensive venue BYO catering?

Hi! I live in California but will be planning a NJ wedding (date undecided). More than 50% of my guests will be coming from CA, so I want a reception location within a reasonable distance from my West Orange church ceremony. I would like recommendations for places I can bring in my own caterer....

More than 50% of my guests will be coming from CA, so I want a reception location within a reasonable distance from my West Orange church ceremony. I would like recommendations for places I can bring in my own caterer. We'll have between 110-130 guests. Inexpensive options would be amazing!

Laurita isnt even in south jersey - its in New Egypt. which is pretty much central jersey and pretty close to Princeton.

I'm not familiar with anything north of princeton but West Orange can't be that far? Or is it really close to NYC?

Either way - I agree about the contract. Any good caterer will require one - even if its just to write down and agree on what food will be served and the prices and such. Get everything in writing and both parties to sign.

Munchkin - yes you're right I meant more south than west orange which is pretty far north! It's about 1.5 hours from Laurita but the catering company works about an hour away from West Orange. And we'll definitely get a contract. We will still look at full service venues as well, I just want to know my options.

Jo- they are not on the other side of the state just further south than where I hope to have my ceremony. I am still flexible at this time and yes your opinion is very clear but I wasn't asking about that. Again just asking about north jersey venues.

    So clarity here.

If you say south- then it's south. That's not south- it's central- you think this isn't a big state- but my husband and I both travel the length of this state all the time. So it actually matters.

That's definitely smack in Central Jersey and an hour and a half away from west orange. On a Friday? Good luck man.

I mean- do what you want- but I think it's a bad idea and more hassle than it's worth? Why don't you try to find a venue you closer to central jersey so you can use your catering company down here?

Also- welcome to the internet- where if you post things- people get to say things back to you. Regardless of if you think it's what you wanted to hear or not.

Her ceremony is in West Orange and more that half of her guests are from out of town. She is trying to prevent them from traveling too far between ceremony site and reception venue.
