Inexpensive Reception Food

So...I'm wanting to have a dinner at my reception for about 100-150. I will be doing it all myself so that I don't have to pay for a caterer. Do you have any suggestions for some good food that wouldn't be super expensive? I'm pretty much open to any suggestions! Thanks much!...

Well, im doing the food for our reception and for the record it was the first decisions i made while planning, it was doable since our guest list is below 25. I'm gonna do a bunch of rice (we are Hispanic and we love rice) with beans and meatballs and a green salad with cherry tomatoes. Have chip and dip on the tables (mind you is like three tables lol) an assortment or cheese and crackers and for drinking we are having lemonade and iced tea and obviously water. They will bring their own beer and liquor! Saves me a bunch!

We're not doing it ourselves, but we are on a SERIOUS budget, and we are doing a later evening comfort food reception with pizzas and pasta. Breadsticks, salad, and soft drinks are also included in the price. I think it was something like $17 pp ($8 or so for kids) and this way nobody in the bridal party has to deal with it, either. My mom IS doing my cake, though. It was a miracle that the venue cleared that, but then, my mom is a very experienced cake baker and decorator.

We can't afford a caterer so we also plan on self-catering our wedding. We were thinking about doing a taco bar because the only thing you'd have to cook is the meat! Everything else you can pretty much just set out in bowls and replenish throughout the night. Our venue doesn't have a big kitchen (just a sink, stove, and small fridge), so we might cook the meat the night before and then heat it up at the reception. We also plan on doing a chips and salsa bar with all different kinds of salsa and queso.
