Inexpensive Maryland Wedding Venues for 200 people

Rebecca , on June 23, 2015 at 5:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

We are actively looking for an inexpensive wedding venue in Maryland. I am looking for a venue for a Sunday afternoon for no more than $2500 rental fee. We are looking to work with a location that will let us provide our own caterer and we are will to do all of the setting up and clean up. I have come across a few places but am really having a hard time finding somewhere for that price that will accommodate 200 people.

Anyone know of anything? We are looking throughout the state.

What are you expecting the rental fee to include? State Parks would be the cheapest but then you have to rent a tent. There may be some with pavillions though?

There were two others I was going to suggest then I realized they won't accommodate 200 people. Maybe you need to look at cutting the guest list.

A few brides have had weddings here. They said their weddings were lovely. I believe you can use an outside caterer -- plus, they actually post their rates on the site. They can host 200, I believe.

Check community centers, city-owned properties, fraternal organizations (Elks, Eagles, Lions), etc.

Then you need to rethink the guest count.

Yeah....Inexpensive is not a word that would be associated with a wedding of 200 guests. Ours was 210 or so and the food/bev cost at the golf course reception was $10K.

Look at the putting on the ritz website. They are affiliated with several venues that are fairly inexpensive. I'm getting married at Savage Manor and the rental is only $1250 for a Saturday night. The manor only seats 110 though. I think the great room at savage is inexpensive and it's much larger.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Unfortuently we aren't able to cut down the guest list. We both have large families, and it just is what it is!

I know it will be more than $2500 to have the wedding I was looking more at just rental of the venue.

We both are kind of unaware of the cost it would take to feed that many people. Of course we see that some venues are charging any where from 35-110 a person, even with buffet options. Does anyone have any experience working with a caterer regarding how much the cost is to feed a person buffet style?

Buffets can range anywhere from $10-100 per person, this is why a lot of people use Mexican food and BBQ, because you get a lot of food for your money. A lot depends on the type of food being served. I went to a wedding once that had a fajita buffet and it was AWESOME.

Yes you can cut the guest count. This is not a family reunion; it's your wedding. Invite the people you interact with on a regular basis.

    Detour Winery: http://www.detourwinery.com/Facility-Rental_ep_46-1.html

    Carroll County Farm Museum: http://ccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/farmmus/Rental.aspx

Union Mills Homestead is beautiful: http://www.unionmills.org/

These are nice places in my area that I know are inexpensive and allow outside caterers.

    Also, try Martin's catering: http://martinscaterers4-px.rtrk.com/

Not sure the rental cost, but they can fit large crowds and have multiple locations.

Putting on the ritz lists their prices on their website. Their prices are right around $50pp which seems average for MD for the typical buffet. It really does depend on type of food though.

Thanks for your help guys and no we really can not cut the wedding list down, our immediate families are large and we just simply can not invite one uncle and not the other, that is just how we feel about it! We actually found a location we are looking at called Circle D Farm in Columbia, MD that looks really promising and within our budget. Thank you all for all of the suggestions and help!

The cheapest rate i found was in Patapsco Park, around 200-300 dollars only but you have to do the decorations coz they only provide tables and chairs..
