Incorporating love for our favorite team

redhead3, on July 24, 2019 at 2:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
Hey y’all Smiley smile my fiancé and I are HUGE fans of Kentucky basketball/football. We’ve been to multiple games and definitely always watch on tv. I would love to somehow incorporate our love for KY into our reception. Any ideas!?

This is small but I got a Michigan Wolverines garter belt. My FH is a big Michigan fan, I am not (Go Wisconsin lol). But I knew he would love it. I found it on Etsy, then got our names and wedding date on it.

You could do a Kentucky themed groom's cake maybe. Or do a cake topper with the figurines wearing Kentucky gear. Maybe the groom could wear Kentucky socks as his dress socks?

I’ve been looking for a cake topper that won’t break the bank because I think it’d be sooo cute!! And I love the idea of them wearing Kentucky socks!!

I've seen people incorporate their favorite teams, namely WVU (we live in WV), in multiple ways: garters, guest books, groom's socks, groom's cake, seating cards, corn hole boards, etc.

FH & I are huge Alabama fans! I'm getting an Alabama garter, FH is wearing Alabama dress socks, my cake topper has elephants on it (my cake is very glitsy so the elephants go really well with it and is a more subtle hint of Alabama), FH's cake will have an Alabama "A" on it, and we're going to play Sweet Home Alabama & Dixieland Delight at the wedding. We'll probably play Alabama's Fight Song at the reception too. Oh, and our corn hole boards have the Alabama logo on them!

Go big blue! You could do player’s names instead of table numbers, a UK garter, a UK groom’s cake, incorporate their colors into your decor, use their fight song as your entrance into the reception, use photos of you at UK games in your centerpieces.

This sounds awesome! I went to school at the University of Arkansas and my FH went to Alabama. This gave me some good ideas for what to surprise him with at our wedding. Sounds like a blast and you are going to have so much fun!

A Kentucky garter would be so cute! I'm sure you can find one on Etsy if you're interested!
