Including Step Dad

Hi everyone!

I need some ideas or advice on how to include my step dad in the wedding. He has been in my life more than my real dad has been for the past 5-10 years. However as a child, I was such a daddy’s girl and have dreamed of my real dad walking me down the aisle, etc. I would like to include my step dad because he really is so important to me, yet I’m not sure I want both of them to actually walk me down the aisle. We are getting married on a small deck with everyone seated around us so I would be worried about three people walking side by side as well. I’m also not a big dancer so two separate father/daughter dances isn’t appealing to me either. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to include him! Thanks!

What about one walking you and one you dance with? I'm not sure if that's something that you would be interested in considering.

You can have your dad walk you halfway down the aisle to meet your stepfather and then have him either walk you the rest of the way or have both of them walk you the rest of the way if the aisle is wide enough.

Will your step dad escort your mom down the aisle. If you're having a unity candle, you could use him to light it. Or maybe he can read something like a poem or passage at the ceremony or make a toast at the reception?

What's your relationship with your dad like now? I know you said your stepdad has been in your life more but how do you and your dad get along now? How long have you been closer to your stepdad? How long has he been your stepdad?

My father is a great father, very active, never had problems, etc. So our stories are a little different. But my stepfather has been in my life for 10 years, and is still very important. I'm inviting his whole family, they are all included in the rehearsal dinner, we are thanking him in our welcome speech at the reception, and I am putting a picture of his mother (who has passed) on our memorial table. He is walking my mother down the aisle & attending the rehearsal as well.
