In search of Bridesmaid Dresses Made in usa

Emily, on October 20, 2020 at 1:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi! I need help finding a bridesmaid dress! This is the dress I love by JJHouse BUT I would love to buy a dress that is made in the USA to stimulate our own economy and/or to support a local business. I'm having little to no luck on Etsy with finding something I love as much as this dress. Any suggestions? Has anyone seen a dress like this on Etsy or another site that has made in USA dresses?

I dont have any personal recommendations, but on etsy it's possible to filter your results for local shops, so that would be a good place to start. I think you can also filter for things made in the USA.

Hey thanks for finding this!! I’ve heard about a lot of bad experiences and long deliveries with David’s Bridal. Did you have a good experience?

So when I Googled "made in USA bridesmaid dresses" some dresses from JJ's House and Cocomelody came up...but I am not sure how much I would trust that. In one of the review photos from one of the JJ's dresses, you can see the packing slip and it is clearly all Chinese.

I would def keep looking on Etsy and see if there is a seamstress near you who could make the dresses. That might be your best option.

I commend you for doing this! I posted a while back about a registry with American-made goods. I had more luck with that than dresses.

I actually did. My bridesmaids dresses were ordered when the pandemic first started. I did have to send them back because they were to big. I went off the size guide on their website and it was off or I just wasn’t measuring right. They allowed me to return them without any issues and I reordered smaller sizes.

I've seen similar styles on Cocomelody and Azazie which are based in the US.
All of the major labels are based in the US: Dessy, Watters, Bill Levkoff, Mori Lee, Lazaro, etc.

Yes I do agree about JJs House. While they have many gorgeous styles you don't see anywhere else, I personally don't feel comfortable ordering from overseas. Plus I have read countless posts here where a seamstress refused to alter anything from them due to their poor construction. It's one of those 'you get what you pay for' situations.

I got 2 dresses from JJs House and the quality was terrible. They also emailed me as soon as I placed the order to tll me they make the dresses to order so I wouldn't be able to return them. We're going with Azazie.

I've actually never heard of long deliveries from David's Bridal for bridesmaids dresses. They are pre-made usually, so they ship super quick. Every time I or anyone else I know has gotten a DB bridesmaid dress, it came in within like 2 months at most. Azazie is also great. However, none of these dresses are MADE in the US. Most manufacturers are going to use a country like China, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. to actually make the dress. If you want somethint that was actually sewn by someone living in the US, your best bet is finding a local dress-maker/seamstress or Etsy and limiting it to the US.
