In regards to alcohol

Allison, on September 26, 2019 at 10:43 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9
We are looking into our options for catering and bar service. We are looking to serve some alcohol but not a full cocktail bar. I attended a wedding where the bride and groom had 3 bottles of assorted wines on each table of 8 guests, and that was the alcohol available for the evening. It seemed to go over well in my opinion....Wondering if anyone else has done something like this and how well it worked?
Thank you Smiley smile

I did that !!! We had wine and cognac at every table. In my culture though that's extremely common

I think if you’re going to offer limited alcohol, you should at least offer something to appease most guests. Could you do open beer and wine?

I went to a very Christian wedding years ago and there was one bottle of chilled white wine and one bottle or red wine per table and that was it. Seemed to be fine. If you could serve beer & wine that might be nice.

I agree that maybe you could limit to just beer and wine.

We're stocking our own bar with beer and wine only. We'll have three kinds of bottled beer and one white and one red wine.

I have been at events that did this, it went over very well. We plan on just having beer, wine, and one signature drink along with a few bottles of champagne for toasting.

I just went to a wedding that had table wine at dinner and it didn’t go well. Tables aren’t naturally sorted by peoples’ wine preferences...so...our table had a red and a white. ONE person wanted white, everyone else was a red drinker....so one bottle of wine shared among 7 people left everyone a little ....displeased. No one was particularly excited about their half glass of wine.

I find some sort of bar set up works best, so everyone has equal access to what they actually want— even if the whole bar is just wine options, it would work better. Beer&wine only is even better.

This is what has happened every time I've seen this too.

I would just have a bar with one red, one white wine and maybe one beer. No need to provide anything else.
