I do not so much my MIL because she was not present in my husbands life but his aunt I feel is more like my MIL I get along with everyone they were the most inviting family my exs parents and familys hated me so I was scared meeting my hubby's family but thankfully they have been so sweet and nice and I love spending time with them

Yes! Very well. It's an interesting dynamic.

My fiancé's Swedish and his parents are Norwegian but they both moved to Sweden when they were in their late teen years and my fiancé was born and raised in here in Sweden. Because of that, things can be a little awkward sometimes with his mom who is very shy about speaking English even though her english is great. His dad is way more comfortable speaking english and is also just generally more outgoing and so we talk in english all the time (thank god too because he speaks a weird norwegian-swedish hybrid which is very hard to understand, lol).

The language barrier doesn't seem to be a big issue at all (and gets easier every year since I know Swedish decently now) but I used to have an issue with feeling like his mom wasn't very warm (the way my mom is), but it's just how people are here so I don't take it personally anymore. His sister is awesome.. we had an issue for a while where I guess I had once told her I had only wanted her to talk to me in swedish but I had completely forgotten, so I spent a long time being very quiet whenever I was around her, because i felt isolated, lol. Once we cleared things up everything went back to normal the way it was when we first met. She's great! Couldn't be happier with my FH's family. They're big music lovers like me, love to travel and like mid century stuff like I do so we get along great.
