In desperate need of Hawaii Itinerary Help

Lauren, on January 28, 2022 at 9:27 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5
My fiancé and I will be going to Maui for 5 nights and Oahu for 3 nights. We are flying out of LAX and want to avoid connecting flights on the way home before coming back to work.

We are going to be leaving LAX-Maui on a Friday (getting in around 1 pm) and the next Wednesday flying to Oahu. Saturday we will fly from Oahu-LAX. (We would like Sunday at home to recover before going back to work)
For hotels we’re thinking the westing in Maui and the Four seasons in Oahu. In Maui needs to be Marriott hotels as we have 400k marriot points to use. We are open to other hotel recs though.
We know all that we want to do but we havnt been to Hawaii and don’t know how far things are apart and don’t want to be running all over the place during our honeymoon.
The things we would like to do are 1. Waterfall hikes2. Private photography3. Jet skis 4. Spa days 5. Kayaking 6. Private sunset sail7. Swim with sea turtles/ dolphins. 8. Rent a car from Maui roadsters for the road to Hana 9. We also consider ourselves to be a bit of foodies and would like to go to some nice restaurants 10. Beachfront massages 11. Private beach front dinner
Our budget for the honeymoon is flexible but about 20k. Anyone who has done this or planning something similar could you share your itineraries?
TIA!

Hi Lauren! This is totally doable but will be packed—know especially the day you fly from Maui to Oahu will be mostly eaten up by travel.
The Four Seasons in Oahu is beautiful but pretty far from most things to do on the island so you’d want to plan on renting a car (rideshares, etc. are SUPER limited outside Waikiki). They could definitely accommodate 4, 10 and 11.
There is amazing food all over both islands, as well as waterfall hikes and opportunities to jet ski. I would actually suggest heading to the TripAdvisor forums, where people who travel to the islands all the time will be able to give you lots more specifics. Most of them are super nice and helpful! (Except the woman on the Big Island board, who told me I should go to Mexico instead of Hawaii on my honeymoon because I asked where I could get a bottle of wine for our hotel room 😂.)

Research your restaurants and make reservations really early. We didn’t know that and had to scramble for certain nicer places—especially on Oahu. Some places are booked out for months. Our nice dinner in Oahu was at the M and it was fantastic. While we were there a sous chef came out and gave us recommendations for other places to eat—including lillihua bakery (several locations, really good pastries) and a really good soba noodle place that was SUPER cheap for lunch ($10 - so cheap for a meal in Hawaii!). Kokos head cafe in Honolulu is also very good— they don’t do reservations, but you hold your seat on yelp.

Most hotels will have spas—just check to see if you need reservations/what their covid policies are. We were able to do a private couples lanai massage at the royal hawaiian that was very private and good, but it was pricey (probably because it was at the royal hawaiian-lol).

Some of the Lyft drivers will have binders with suggestions. Example below— we tried lucky belly and it was really good, but in a sketchyish part of town.In desperate need of Hawaii Itinerary Help 1In desperate need of Hawaii Itinerary Help 2
We did more than eat on our honeymoon, but most of the activities you’re looking at we did in Kauai. Honestly though you should be able to find all of that once you’re in Hawaii. There are so many places to hike or to go sailing, etc.
You’ll have an absolute blast. Enjoy!

That is a really packed schedule. I think the best idea is to contact an island-based tour company.
