If you're doing readings you could have your friends do those. Or you could have friends be ushers, that is what I'm doing for two of our friends

I’ve heard of people giving them a special row with designated seating signs to make them feel special during the ceremony... maybe next to the family or the row behind family?

I was in the same situation. If all of my friends and two sisters were in it I would literally have 8-9 people, so I stuck with my two sisters. We aren’t doing seats at the ceremony because it’s on the beach and will be quick, but I had them all color coordinate with my wedding colors to kind of match (not exact colors but the same color family) and they will be included in photos taken when we take family photos (a group friend photo since they would have been in the bridal party).
