I did parents, grandparents, siblings, aunt and uncles that we are close to and close cousins, who are basically siblings in my family.

That's really it. You can extend to your 1st cousins / aunts / uncles if you're that close, but I'd end at siblings.

So in me and fh immediate family is 55. Do you guys think that will be a good number to have a intimate/private ceremony reception?

55 is a little more than intimate but definitely qualifies as small and private Smiley smile

To me, immediate family is parents and siblings, and grandparents if you want to stretch it out that far. After that, it's extended family. I agree with Margaret in that I wouldn't consider that intimate, but it's definitely small. When I think intimate, I think like 10 people. Again, these are just my own personal definitions lol.

Technically immediate family consists of your parents, siblings, and children. Anything else is extended family.

I actually looked this up. Everyone agrees that parents, siblings, and children count. Most people agree that grandparents also count. That was our cut-off for the small wedding, but it's really up to you. We are having the small wedding because of coronavirus concerns, and if we started adding aunts, uncles, and cousins, we would've gone from 15 people to like 75, which would've been missing the point. When you're deciding who to include, just think about who you can not imagine getting married without, and if you're getting married soon, think about how many people you can realistically bring together safely.

Anything beyond parents, siblings, grandparents and children is considered extended. Some consider first aunts/uncles (parents' siblings) to be part of immediate family and others don't.
