Immediate Dress Regret

I'm such an indecisive person. I posted yesterday that I was between two dresses - then today I went to DB and liked 2 completely different style dresses. None of them had that heart stopping "this is my dress" moment that they show you on TV.... and they were all beautiful.

I had it in my head that I really liked this one form fitted dress so my mom gave me her phone so I could see all the dresses I had liked and they were all SO unflattering in pictures. It completely killed my mood. I went from feeling beautiful and confident to feeling like dirt.

So.... I put back on the 2 dresses I had liked the most, and decided on the one my mom liked best. It was a gorgeous dress - but so were all the others.

So now I'm just ugly crying that maybe it wasn't the one and I should have walked away. I've half convinced myself that I actually hate it and it's only been 5 hours! I'm so confused.

Did anyone else feel like this? How does anyone actually pick a wedding dress?

I think it is really beautiful and looks great on you, but if you don't love it call DB. You want to feel beautiful and comfortable on your wedding day. If you don't love it, you don't love it. Find something that sticks out to you

I did the same thing. I bought my dress and than freaked out a day later and like 3 or 4 other times. I am so glad I kept it, it was the best one for me.

If you really are unsure call tomorrow and cancel it. I do think it looks pretty on you. You could always add a sash if you wanted. I think the dress makes your waist look so tiny and it's very flattering on you

I think it looks wonderful on you. You should ask yourself "why did I say yes" and if it's anything less than "I feel beautiful in it" then it's probably not the dress. Otherwise, I would just take a wedding breather for a few days.

I think it looks beautiful on you, but if you want to keep looking it sounds like you bought from the right place. I bought a beautiful (and over budget) gown after only looking in one shop, and woke up in the middle of the night in a panic. I hated how it looked in some of the pics my sister took and convinced myself it was too pretty for me. Obviously I struggle with confidence issues. lol. Anyway, the shop I ordered from does not allow exchanges or returns so I am gonna have to learn to love myself! Because it truly is not the dress (it's perfect!) it's how I feel about myself that is the problem, and I suspect it may be yours as well. That being said, if you really truly hate yours, I would talk to them about trying on some more and exchanging it.

Well.... I went back this morning. They told me I was allowed to have 1 freak out and that they'd do an exchange for me. The dress I bought yesterday made my mom cry... the dress I bought today made ME cry. It may not be the popular choice... and maybe I'll be the only one who likes myself in it.... but this is my dress.

I like both, but always go with the one that makes YOU cry!

I was the same exact way until I tried it back on at my first fitting. Then I realized why I had picked that dress. ... maybe youre just overthinking it. .... I picked my dress because I felt beautiful in it and it had specific details both me and my FH like. (I would ask him what he liked and did not like from the show Say Yes To The Dress.lol)

I did the same thing. I tried on many dresses and finally made a decision (I was happy with it but it wasn't the dramatic "cry and swoon" like TV makes it (though the bell ring did make me a little misty eyed). I went home feeling confident in my decision...and then it all fell apart. I looked at my phone at pictures of the other dresses and started reminiscing about the details that I like about them. Confidence turned to panic, turned to a frantic call to my aunt (who was present for all dresses), turned frantic call to shop to "hold" my order while I think about it a little more. They told me to take the weekend and think it over (thank goodness), and call them back with my answer or make an appointment if needed. I thought about it for a day and came back to the same conclusion the dress I had picked was perfect for me. Then I quickly deleted the pictures of the others from my phone so I wouldn't even look back! TBH, I don't like the pictures of it on my phone either, they are not flattering! My face is pretty consistently screwed up in an indecisive scowl. I have a fabulous farmer tan from wearing t-shirts in the sun all the time. Not to mention a few areas I need to "handle" in the six month I have left (little toning here and there, okay a lot). Bottom line, we "over-thinkers" can do a lot of questioning about a good decision. If you really feel its not the one, see if its not to late to try more. But remember you picked it over the others for some reason. AND...no matter what dress you decide, you will undoubtedly be the beautiful bride/woman that you FS dreamed of! Best wishes to you.

I personally think the dress flatters you beautifully! You also have to not put so much pressure on yourself just because you saw those pictures on the phone. It's a phone so it's not going to come out the way you want them. You have to think about how gorgeous that dress is going to be when you get your pro pics done!

I am so happy that you went back! I am also so happy that you found something you love! You look awesome! I feel like you even look more at ease in this dress.

Wow I think that looks amazing!!! I've heard of so many people that don't have that stereotypical "this is the one" heart stopping moment, and that's ok! You wouldn't have picked it if you didn't see something in it initially. I think it's stunning!

I didn't have a "this is the one" moment either. And since I know how indecisive I could be, I actually didn't let anyone take any pictures of me either. I didn't want to look back and second guess anything. So now, all I have is my memory of how I felt with it on.

For what it's worth, that dress is gorgeous!

I think a lot of ladies have that regret feeling. It is sadly not uncommon. You have to figure out how to deal with it. Can the dress be returned? Are you being silly? Can you alter or add or subtract to the dress to customize to you. No dress is perfect; I wish people would stop putting so much pressure on the dress. Spend more time on the relationship - the dress is just a disposable item lol.
